BLITZKRIEG
CHECKED
BATTLE OF GEMBLOUX
Blitzkrieg Checked
is an introductory level game of the battle between the
French Armed forces and Germany’s Wehrmacht
on May 14th and 15th, 1940.
The Germans launched Operation
Yellow, the invasion of France and the
Low Countries, on May 10, 1940.
The German vanguard of
Gen. Hoepner’s XVI Corps ran head-on
into the defending French First Army led by
General Rene Prioux at the “Gembloux Gap.”
The Germans hoped to seize the
crucial open ground between the Dyle and
Meuse Rivers, unhinging the Allied line.
The Germans also hoped to tie-up
Allied forces here, so that they could not
be used to oppose the main German offensive
effort coming through the Ardennes further
south. The
resulting conflict in May was the largest
tank battle ever fought to that point.

BLIZTKRIEG
UNLEASHED
BATTLE OF SEDAN
Blitzkrieg Unleashed
is an
introductory level game of the battle
between the French Armed forces and Germany's Wehrmacht on May 13th and
14th, 1940. The Germans launched
Operation Yellow, the invasion of
France
and the Low Countries,
on May 10, 1940. The main German offensive,
dubbed the Sichelschnitt (razor cut), struck
through the lightly defended
Ardennes Forest and emerged at Sedan. General Heinz Guderian led the German
vanguard, the XIX Panzer Corps. The
defenders, under the command of General
Charles Huntzinger, were determined that the
humiliation visited upon France at this
battlefield in 1870 would not be repeated in
1940.

BLITZKRIEG
CHALLENGED
BATTLE OF DINANT
Blitzkrieg Challenged
is an introductory level game of the battle between the
French Armed forces and
Germany’s
Wehrmacht on May 12th through 15th, 1940.
The Germans launched Operation
Yellow, the invasion of France and the Low Countries,
on May 10, 1940.
The German’s 5th Panzer Corps drove the Belgian and French
screening forces through the Ardennes
forest, then sought to cross the
Meuse River near Dinant. A breakthrough here,
as well as further south at
Sedan, would split
the Allied forces in two. A protracted and
bloody battle was not in the German war
plans...

BLITZKRIEG STALLED
BATTLE OF ARRAS
Blitzkrieg Stalled
is an
introductory level game of the battle
between the Allied Armed forces and Germany's Wehrmacht on May 21st and
22nd , 1940. The Germans launched
Operation Yellow, the invasion of
France
and the Low Countries,
on May 10th, 1940. The main German
offensive, dubbed the Sichelschnitt (razor
cut), struck through the lightly defended
Ardennes
Forest. The Germans
quickly broke through the Allied main
defense line along the Meuse River
at
Sedan and Dinant.
German tank and mechanized forces, led by
General Erwin Rommel's 7th Panzer Division,
were boldly sent racing towards the
English Channel
to cut the Allied forces in half. The Allies
launched a desperate counter-attack against
the now strung-out and vulnerable German
spearhead near the town of Arras. The fate of the
Western forces hung in the balance...

BLITZKRIEG MET
BATTLE OF STONNE
Blitzkrieg Met
is
an introductory level game of the battle
between the French Armed forces and Germany's Wehrmacht on May 15th and
16th, 1940. The Germans launched
Operation Yellow, the invasion of
France
and the Low Countries,
on May 10, 1940. The main German offensive,
dubbed the Sichelschnitt (razor cut), struck
through the lightly defended
Ardennes Forest and emerged at Sedan.
Alarmed at the prospect of a German breakout here, and the collapsing
defense at
Sedan, the French
ordered an immediate counter-attack. General
Heinz Guderian, however, had already ordered
the bulk of the German panzer formations to
breakout from the Sedan
bridgehead, and ordered the Gross Deutchland
Regiment, with a supporting Kampfgruppe
formed from the 8th Panzer Division to take
and hold the high ground at Stonne to guard
the German’s bridgehead over the
Meuse
River and expanding flank.
The fight for Stonne would be among the
campaign’s most violent, with the town
switching sides at least 17 times!

BLITZKRIEG UNDONE
BATTLE OF HANNUT
Blitzkrieg Undone
is a low complexity level game of the battle
between the French Armed forces and
Germany's Wehrmacht on
May 12th and 13th, 1940 at
Hannut,
Belgium. The
Germans launched Operation Yellow, the
invasion of
France
and the Low Countries,
on May 10, 1940. The Allies anticipated the
Germans would strike through neutral Belgium as they
had in WWI, and planned on confronting them
there on the Belgian plain. The first large
scale encounter occurred at Hannut, not far
from the famous battlefields of Ramillies
and
Waterloo. Here the
1st and 2nd French Light Mechanized
Divisions, heavily armed with tanks, ran
into the 3rd and 4th Panzer divisions. One
of the first large tank battles of the war
was about to begin... |
